A Young Gentleman's Excessive Drinking Results In A DUI And Time In The Local Jail

Richard had an exceedingly difficult time keeping a job. As a matter of fact, due to his slothfulness and lack of incentive, he was without a job far more regularly than he was in a job situation. And when he did secure a job, he had an exceedingly difficult time getting to work in a timely manner, he regularly received less than passing performance reviews, and he called off sick so often that he almost always got fired two or three weeks after he began working.

Obviously, one of the results of Richard's disgraceful employment record was the fact that he was just about flat broke almost everyday. Regardless of Richard's terrible employment track record and financial negligence, then again, somehow he made it his business to drink in a hazardous and excessive manner almost everyday.

So it came as no big jolt when Richard got a fifth DWI. When he went before the court, the magistrate told Richard that his alcohol-related actions was shameful and, as a result, he was going to sentence Richard to spend seven months in the city jail.

During his time in the municipal jail, Richard was expected to learn more about alcoholism facts such as alcohol consequences and alcohol deaths, about the damaging results of excessive and abusive drinking, and he was expected to get alcohol rehab. The magistrate accentuated the fact that unless Richard gets quality alcohol counseling and learns how to live a life of abstinence, he will most likely be spending quite a bit of his time in the municipal jail.

Richard said that he grasped what the magistrate was proclaiming but he still stated that jail was not the right ruling. The judge saw things from an entirely different vantage point and claimed that it was his professional responsibility to keep alcohol dependent individuals off the streets who drive and drink and who get arrested for a DUI. To support this perspective, the magistrate listed some revered, comprehensively evaluated alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse statistics that underscored some of the negative results that are linked to excessive and abusive drinking such as alcohol related deaths.

Although Richard grasped the fact that he drank in an irresponsible and abusive manner, he never felt that he was an alcohol dependent individual. So it was a big bombshell when Richard started to experience chronic alcoholism signs and symptoms and alcohol withdrawals about six-and-a-half hours after getting locked up in the county jail.

To treat his symptoms of alcohol withdrawal in a harm free manner, Richard was taken by ambulance to a rehab hospital for alcohol detoxification and then brought back to the county jail. While locked up in the city jail Richard was given alcohol counseling but since he received this counseling as something that was imposed upon him, he neglected to take ownership of his hazardous and abusive drinking.

When his time behind bars was finished, the magistrate without indecision announced to Richard that he would be under rigorous observation and would be mandated to take random alcohol tests. After hearing how Richard neglected to take ownership of his drinking situation and how he unwillingly followed the therapy code of behavior while in the municipal jail, the magistrate knew that it was basically a matter of time before he would be seeing Richard once again in court about his irresponsible and hazardous drinking behavior.

As the judge thought about Richard's circumstance, he couldn't help but think about how some people never use their brain and discover how to live in an accountable and mature manner.
