An Alcohol Addicted Individual Goes To Rehab And Receives Alcohol Detox And Rehabilitation For His Alcohol Addiction

Donald used to talk big to his buddies how he could remain employed at a challenging and full-time job and get drunk virtually every night. Unfortunately, after engaging in this destructive lifestyle for about two years, he started to manifest several alcohol related problems.

As an illustration, he had a very difficult time getting up for work because he felt so tired when he awoke. Furthermore, almost every morning Donald experienced a nasty hangover. Without a doubt, the combination of his hangovers and his lack of get-up-and-go did not make it easy for him to get up and feel like he wanted to go to work. To make matters worse, he recently received his third drunk driving arrest in the past eight months.

To compound things further, at work his last two performance appraisals were less than satisfactory. And lastly, his six-and-a-half-year relationship with his girlfriend had deteriorated due to his financial difficulties, angry outbursts, depression, and his lack of patience.

Though Donald was only twenty-five years old, he simply started to look like he was in his late forties. Unfortunately, this is what careless and irresponsible drinking can do to an individual. And in truth he knew that he was suffering from the adverse effects of alcohol abuse or alcoholism and that he was too young to waste his life on careless and irresponsible drinking. So at first he tried to drink responsibly and in moderation. Regrettably, he soon understood that he lost all control after consuming his first drink. Due to the fact that this was an incident that was repeated virtually every time he drank, this obviously concerned him a great deal. In fact, he began to wonder if he was displaying some of the stages of alcoholism.

After discussing his alcohol drinking problems and his careless and irresponsible drinking with his girlfriend, he finally decided to schedule an appointment to see his healthcare professional. When Donald saw his physician, he sincerely stated that he has been drinking in an excessive manner, that he may be displaying behavior that is typical of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to refrain from drinking. He then declared that drinking in moderation does not seem to work for him and consequently, he wants to learn how he can live without drinking alcohol.

Donald also told his doctor about his depression and how this mental health issue was adversely influencing his relationship with his lady friend. His family doctor referred Donald to Doctor Venzel, an alcohol and drug addiction therapist, who persuaded Donald to enroll in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility as an in-patient for alcohol detox and alcohol rehab. Fortunately, Donald would also be able to get medical attention for his depression at this treatment facility.

After six months of rigorous rehabilitation, Donald left the residential treatment center and continued his recovery via outpatient counseling and via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Encouraged to change his life in a more productive manner, Donald joined a gym and started working out three or four times per week. Within nine months Donald was a new person. He was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, and most significant of all, he remained sober for numerous months. He also became more patient, he did not resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more loving person in his relationship with his lady friend. Simply put, getting and staying sober was the best decision Donald had ever made.
